Sous la direction de Zangro, l'équipe de " A part ça tout va bien", prépare un film sur Urban Ballets. Une fiction avec l'humour et le talent qu'on leur connait. Quand un jeune homme participe au stage d'Urban Ballets et rencontre l'amour de sa jeunesse ... A suivre.

Seances du soir ... bonsoir

Depuis mardi, tous les soirs, le Workshop continue jusqu'à 21h. Ainsi des adultes peuvent aussi participer au projet et suivre les séances animées par Hamid, Franco, Steven (cf. photo), Vince, Jo (cf. photo), Duda et Matt. Dans la journée, près de 150 personnes - plus jeunes (!) - préparent ce prometteur Ballet Urbain. Demain, des photos ... des journées au Rocher.

Costumes

Créer son costume, c'est possible. Pour la parade du Carnaval des 2 rives, les danseurs et les musiciens d'Urban Ballets vont bosser avec les costumiers et les plasticiens de la Compagnie " Les Grandes Personnes". En 1h chrono, un costume pour la parade. Ci dessous nos (top) modèles : les (top) cuisinières de la "Table d'Hôte"où tous les midis les artistes et l'organisation se régalent. Quand Duda est là, tout va !

Vis, boulons, écrous, marteaux, canettes, bidons, cerclages, peaux .... L'atelier se met en place dans le Salon du Rocher de Palmer. Depuis lundi, une dizaine d'enfants et d'adultes trient, découpent, assemblent des objets récupérés pour fabriquer des instruments sous les conseils de Duda. Et de sa douce voix. Mercredi soir 2 fanfares (Tukafac, Perculture) ont commencé à répéter ... ça sonne. Déjà !

Screws, bolts, nuts, hammers, cans, bottles, strapping, skins .... The workshop is taking place in the Salon du Rocher de Palmer. Carnaval des 2 rives / On arrive !

Organisé par la Rock School Barbey et Musiques de Nuit, le Carnaval des 2 rives accueille les workshop d'Urban Ballets. La fabrication d'instruments et les premières répétitions musicales commencent le 5 mars au Rocher de Palmer à Cenon sous la direction de Duda. Du 12 au 16 mars, les ateliers chorégraphiques (sous la direction d'Hamid Ben Mahi accompagné de la Cie Via Kathleong) et les ateliers de percussion (sous la direction de Jo Zanders et Duda) se déroulent au Rocher, avec des répétitions communes en journées et en soirées. Clap de fin du premier workshop d'Urban Ballets. "Nous avons tous pris une claque". Au delà de la chaleur, de la fatigue et de la qualité artistique, nous avons pu aller, ensemble, au bout de nos idées et de nos engagements. Urban Ballets est un laboratoire, où chacun, quelque soit son niveau et son origine, trouve une place pour s'exprimer. Pour laisser libre cour à son imagination et à sa créativité. Merci aux artistes (Hamid, Fred, Duda, Jo, Aleksander, Vuzi, Steven, Buru et Z), qui ont donné sans compter pour lancer, sur de très bon rails, cette aventure humaine et artistique. Prochaine étape, en mars et en France (Bordeaux et Cenon). D'ici là des tutoriels vidéos pour apprendre, pas à pas, les chorégraphies et les rythmiques crées lors de cette semaine sud africaine. Remerciements au National Art Festival pour son accueil.

Grahamstown / Everything is good

Troisième jour de workshop et première répétition commune entre les musiciens et les danseurs. A la fin de journée : 45 minutes de chorégraphie, au rythme des percussions créees depuis le début de la résidence. Et il reste tant de possibilité à explorer... vivement demain ! Et le prochain match des Bafana Bafana, qui ont "explosé" (2 à 0) l'Angola hier au soir au 1er tour de la Coupe d'Afrique des Nations... au grand plaisir des danseurs de Via Kathleong.

Third day of workshop and first common rehearsal  among musicians and dancers. At the end of the day : 45 minutes of choreography to the rhythm of percussion, created since the beginning of the residence. And there is so much opportunity to explore...  can't wait for tomorrow ! And the next match of Bafana Bafana, who have beat (2-0) Angola last night in the 1st round of the African Cup of Nations... to the delight of the Via Kathleong' s dancers .

Grahamstown / Kids arrive !

Intrigués par l’effervescence qui règne au Recreativ Center, des enfants arrivent à la sortie de l'école. 15 hier, 50 aujourd'hui. Ils s'amusent avec les instruments d'Urban Ballets. A l'intérieur, les danseurs bossent. Les stagiaires apprennent très vite et très bien, rythmant les séances de chants traditionnels repris en choeur. "C'est bien parti pour le meilleur ... "
